Designed as a pair of wings composed of various shades of blue plique-à-jour enamel, set en tremblant atop a flexible headband, signed Cte du Suau de la Croix; circa 1890 with later modifications.

In fair condition given the age of this piece, the frame and mounting with signs of wear and minor discoloration commensurate with age. One of the floral screws attaching the wings to the frame is slightly different from the other, and perhaps a later replacement; the corresponding gold and silver wing base with scratches and indentations, and evidence of possible repair. Signature is along the top of one wing. The plique-à-jour enamel is in fair condition, with a two small areas of loss, and some cracks and chips. Comte Enguerrand du Suau de La Croix was known for perfecting the technique of cabochon enamel, present on this piece. Total gross weight approximately 26 dwts.
