Condition

Overall in good original condition. The wood surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, dents, and minor areas of rubbing, consistent with age and use. There are natural knots, irregularities, and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, which have been reinforced with wood infill in areas by Molesworth at the time of production; some of these areas with very minor losses to the infill. One outer leg with a more prominent separation in the grain resulting in the loss to some of the infill, the split measuring approximately 11 ¼ in. The oil cloth is original; its surfaces with scattered minor scuffs, scratches, spotting, areas of rubbing and discoloration, all consistent with age and use. One corner of the tabletop with a ring mark measuring approximately 2 ¼ in. in diameter. The leather edge with some lifting at the side of the table and with tassels missing throughout (as visible in the catalogue illustration); one side of the table with all the tassels missing. The brass tacks with some minor surface scratches and areas of rubbing, not visually distracting and consistent with age and use; one of these tacks is missing. Designed for the historic Old Lodge commission, the table exhibit's Molesworth's characteristic Western influence with the creatively positioned pole details and use of tacks and trim.
