Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces with very minor scattered scuffs, scratches, dents, marks, and areas of rubbing, as well as some surface soiling concentrated to the recesses of the design, all consistent with age and gentle use. There are natural knots, irregularities, and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, which have been reinforced with wood infill in some areas by Molesworth at the time of production. The red and black leather is original; the former presents overall with a deep maroon red akin to the representation of the headboards in the catalogue illustration. The leather surfaces with scattered scuffs and scratches, a few nicks and dents, and minor instances of rubbing, all consistent with age and gentle use. The brass tacks overall with some minor surface scratches and areas of rubbing, not visually distracting and consistent with age and gentle use. Please note this was originally designed as two twin beds and currently with contemporary hardware joining the frames to create a king. The proper right headboard with some minor scattered abrasions and very minor losses to the infill along the proper left stile, the largest loss located towards the metal stretcher and measuring approximately ½ x 1/8 in. The rear upper area of this same pole with a small area of rubbing measuring approximately 3/8 x ¼ in. The red leather to the proper right headboard with a few slightly deeper isolated surface scratches, the longest located by the top proper left corner of the leather and measuring approximately 1 ½ in. long. The wood to the footboards with some scattered areas of rubbing, stable and not visually distracting, the largest located to the proper left stile of the proper left footboard, measuring approximately 3 x 7/8 in. The reverse of the proper right pole of the proper left footboard with an area of rubbing measuring approximately 1 1/8 x 5/8 in., not visible when the bed is installed. The red leather to the proper right headboard with a small scratch measuring approximately ½ in. long. Some residual nicks and some wood losses around the metal hardware of the head and footboard due assembly/breakdown of the beds over the years. The lot is offered together with metal support beams with plastic feet, all in very good condition, as well as its associated hardware. Overall a rare form with vibrant original leather.
