Catalogue Note
A FINE COPY OF “THE MOST VALUABLE RECORD OF INDIAN LIFE AND THE FUR TRADE OF THE PERIOD” (Vail). Long was engaged by the Hudson’s Bay Company as a fur trapper and trader between 1768 and 1787, during the height of competition with the Montreal traders. An extensive Chippewa vocabulary is included.
