Condition
This work is in excellent condition overall. The stretcher bars are slightly uneven against the wall, as evident from a side view. The surface textures are inherent to the artist's working method. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, a certain area of the gray paint near the center top edge fluoresces but is not a result of restoration. Unframed.

Catalogue Note
The present work emanates from Cheyney Thompson's series of metal-based paintings. Thompson develops each painting by running the economic random walk theory against various metals traded on the commodities market. The pigments are then mixed with a binder and applied to the canvas in a manner reminiscent of the Abstract Expressionist all-over process. The only requirement of the artist is to fill the entire surface with the exact amount of pigments predetermined by the algorithm—in the present work: 108.64Chromium - 80.08Copper - 42.23Iron - 21.96Aluminum - 16.38Nickel - 84.46Cobalt - 51.89Silicon - 29.27Tungstan - 18.3Tin - 15.42Bismuth. Ultimately this process is an investigation of market forces (both economic and creative) and their influence on the role of artists and the industry in the contemporary era.
