CONCH SHELL, ENAMEL AND DIAMOND DEMI-PARURE, MID 19TH CENTURY AND LATER

Description

The necklace designed as an articulated vine of flowering dog rose, the leaves applied with green champlevé enamel, the flowers collet-set with conch shell cabochons and centring on rose diamonds, length approximately 460mm; together with a later pair of ear clips of similar design, case stamped G.B. Brom, Utrecht.

Condition

Unsigned. Enamel mostly in good condition, some very minor areas of chipping, some leaves with areas of brown discolouration and roughness to surfaces due to firing. Metal and foil backing to rose diamonds also with areas of discoloration. Screwing element at reverse of central rose possibly repaired. Ear clips later in date, each measuring approximately 29mm in length, one with leaf spray inverted, clip fittings. Combined gross weight approximately 81 grams. Additional group of broken components and a brooch pin. Case stamped GB Brom Utrecht. Overall in good condition.
