Description
- 18.7 cm, 7 3/8 in.
the interior centred with a medallion enclosing a carp and a mandarin fish swimming amongst clumps of lotus and water weeds, the exterior similarly rendered with four fish alternating with lotus leaves, pods and blooms, all reserved against a rich cobalt-blue ground, the base left white and inscribed with a six-character reign mark within a double circle
Condition
There are several retouched hairlines to the mouthrim, including two of approx. 4 and 2 cm at about 6 and 1 o’clock. There are restored chips covering an area of approx. 4.1 cm at 8 o’clock, in addition to several other refilled rim flakes of approx. 0.4 to 1 cm. A small area of approx. 3 cm to the interior cavetto appears to have even retouched. The dish also has some typica firing imperfections, including a polished iron spot to the interior, original spots and burst bubbles to the exterior, in addition to typical surface wear.
