  • 31.7 cm, 12 1/2  in.
each of quatrelobed form, the baluster body rising from a splayed foot to a waisted neck and flared rim, each lobed side of the main body decorated with a cusped cartouche enclosing a scene of figures engaging in various activities against tranquil landscapes, interrupted by lotus scrolls against a dense diapered ground, between plantain and lappet borders encircling the neck and lower body, the rim and foot bordered with key-fret friezes

Condition

There is restoration to the rims and bases of both vases and other small areas of restoration, including the trees of one panel and the head of one of the scholars on the right vase, and the lower lappet border and edges of the one mountain of the left vase. As visible in the catalogue illustration, there are expected minor nicks to the fragile extremities, including an approx. 0.6 cm chip to the clouds on the right vase. The bases of both are relacquered.
