Description
- 9 cm, 3 1/2 in.
the globular body rising from a short straight foot to an incurved mouth, freely incised around the exterior with an overlapping lotus lappet band below a double line at the rim, the domed cover incised with lotus leaves and surmounted by a stalk finial, all covered in an ivory-white glaze, the base incised with a guan character
Condition
The jar is in good condition overall, with the exception of some minor chips to the rim and some firing imperfections, including iron spots and uneven glaze. The outer rim of the cover with a chip (approx. 2.8 x 0.5 cm), and four further smaller chips to the interior rim, one of which with an associated hairline (approx. 3.6 cm). The cover is possibly a matched one. The actual colour is more of a creamy-white tone than the catalogue illustration.
