Description

  • Diameter 6 3/8  in., 16.2 cm
supported on a low, spreading foot and rising to a short, waisted neck, the body painted in dark brown with a scrolling foliate vine between line borders, a brown-painted petal band encircling the neck, all against an ivory-toned glaze save for the foot

Collection of Stephen Junkunc, III (d. 1978). 

Condition

The surface is dry and matte caused by glaze erosion. There is russet -colored crazing which is most visible around the rim and shoulders. The jar has a diagonal rim crack approx. 1 1/2 inches in length. There is wear overall and characteristic minor imperfections consistent with age and type.
