Description

  • Width 5 1/2  in., 14 cm
of oval section, the low upright sides set over four short cabriole legs, rising to a recessed neck and everted rim, the body set to either side with a pair of lion-mask handles, the base cast with an apocryphal six-character Xuande mark within a recessed rectangle, the patina a warm brown color

Condition

The censer with a small vertical filled repair to erode or pitted area along the one of the long sides. There is are two areas of pitted erosion one along the edge of the base and the other nearby along the upper leg. The surface with wear overall, small nicks and dents along the edges and minor imperfections consistent with age and type.
