Catalogue Note

When examining the case and the movement construction of the watch, one can see that both of them are directly inspired by the vintage minute-repeating reference 4261 made in the 1950s. The case has a clear inspiration of the 4261 case, defined by the iconic 'teardrop' lugs and the elegant overall construction, with the cal. 1755 and its thickness of 3.28 mm, at the time considered the thinnest minute repeating movement ever made. 200 examples of this calibre were produced, and it was not only inspired by the movement construction of reference 4261, but it was actually made and realised from reconditioned vintage movements from the manufacturer's stock. The majority of them were cased in different precious metals with a classic dial, but one can assume that only a few were cased in platinum.

In addition to its sapphire crystal display back, the timepiece is further accompanied by a uniquely engraved platinum solid case back.

According to our research less than 20 watches have been produced in platinum, and to our knowledge this is the first time a platinum 30010 is offered at auction. The excellent condition, rarity, elegance, complexity and beauty of this Vacheron Constantin minute repeater make it a superb addition to any collection.
