Catalogue Note

Known as a transitional reference, the Rolex Daytona 6262 has a significantly shorter production run lasting from the late 1960s to approximately 1972. With an extremely similar appearance to the reference 6239, the 6262 is slightly different as it is fitted with an improved Valjoux movement, caliber 727.

Comparable to the MK1 dial of the reference 1665 "Double Red Sea Dweller" where the red color text can fade into a pinkish shade, the present watch too has a similar transformation that happened to the word "Daytona". Due to a flaw in the paint pigmentation, the word "Daytona" has now taken a very attractive light blue as shown in the image. For this flaw, watches with this type of dials are later nicknamed the "Blue Daytona". In very attractive and original condition, this 6262 Blue Daytona has a very nice and fat bezel with nice case lines and lugs proportions. The riveted bracelet is also from the same period. The dial is very pleasing with its silver scales and aged lume plots.
