Catalogue Note
The present watch is a reference 5508 which is known as a 'small crown' Submariner. This reference was the last Submariner not to have crown guards. This example from 1962 has the correct exclamation dial and a beautifully glossy black gilt dial with closed chapter ring. Consigned by a highly important collector, this example is very pleasing with a very attractive dial with a case that has seen some light polishing, however, attractive overall.
