CASE The case is in excellent overall condition for a watch of its age, with very light surface scratching visible, indicative of seldom wear and use. DIAL The dial is in very good overall condition for its age. The dial has aged gracefully, developing a lovely patina. The hard enamelling remains consistent and intact. MOVEMENT The split-seconds chronograph function and calendar functions are operating properly. The movement is running at time of cataloguing, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. The present lot is an exceptional example of an early 20th century Grand Complication watch from Patek Philippe, a crown jewel of the firm's production. It features three important complications: the perpetual calendar for astronomical functions, the split seconds chronograph for timing two events at once, and a fine minute repeating complication which chimes the hours and minutes, activated from a slide at the case band. With these three complications, this watch embodies the apex of watchmaking, and is a testament to the skill of the watchmakers at Patek.  The present lot retains a well preserved dial and case, with crisp hallmarks and comes from the original owner.
