Reference 3940 was introduced by Patek Philippe in 1985 and production officially ceased in March 2006. As the successor to references 3448 and 3450, it was manufactured in three series over a 20 year production period.  The present lot belongs to the first series, which was in production during the years of 1985 to 1988.
