Condition
Unexamined out of frame. The canvasboard bows slightly but appears sound. There are a few isolated areas of very fine lines of craquelure in places towards the edges, possibly associated with old pins or pegs. There are faint remnants of a possible previous frame towards the upper and right edges. There is light surface dirt in places. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals fluorescence and probable retouching to the left of the extreme upper edge and in the left quadrant, with possible more minor instances elsewhere. These have been very sensitively executed. There are further instances of fluorescence in keeping with the Artist's working methods. The work is floated and held within a canvas slip and painted wooden box frame and behind glass. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
