Condition

The sheet has been laid by the Artist onto a board. This board secured to a supportive tray, which is in turn attached to a linen mount. There is some very minor separation between sheet and board at the extreme edges. The board is coming slightly loose from the tray at the left and lower edges. There is a small diagonal crease in the extreme upper left corner. There are some very minor nicks and flecks of loss along the extreme edges, notably along the upper edge. There are two small scratches in the extreme upper right corner. There is some rounding to the lower left corner. There appears to be a match-head sized area of retouching at the centre of the right edge, possibly executed by the Artist. There are some tiny lines of reticulation in the black and brown pigments, only visible upon extremely close inspection. There is minor surface dirt and studio matter in places. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultra violet light confirms the presence of the aforementioned retouching at the centre of the right edge. The work is floated within a simple wooden frame and held behind glass. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
