Condition

Overall in good condition with a couple scattered minor nicks and scratches. The stone is paler, more translucent, and less russet than in the printed illustration, with natural fissures and white inclusions.

Catalogue Note

Loretta Hines Howard was the daughter of Chicago lumber tycoon Edward Hines. An artist who was a student of the Ashcan School of Robert Henri, she was also known for her collection of creche statuettes, some of which were donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
