Condition
The sculpture with some flaking and missing black lacquer in places (face, front of the robe, the back and side) as well as areas of consolidation and restoration to lifting and losses of lacquer. There are small chips and nicks along edges and the base. There has been some restoration to the thumb and forefinger on the proper left side. There are some remnants of gilt on right of the ear and the neck and the inlaid hardstone are likely later replacements. The surface is dry and there is wear overall consistent with age.
