Catalogue Note
Hamilton introduced the Ventura in 1957 with a revolutionary new movement, the first electric watch. The calibre 500 still had a balance wheel like standard mechanical watches, but instead of winding the main barrel of the watch, it uses a battery to generate the impulse to animate the balance wheel. The iconic assymetrical design of the watch helped to promote the cutting-edge technology hidden inside. This particular watch features the calibre 500 which was only produced until 1959 and was replaced by the more reliable calibre 505. This early production piece is therefore the most collectible version of the Hamilton Ventura.
