Description
- 17.2 by 88 by 40.7 cm, 6 3/4 by 34 5/8 by 16 in.
the rectangular panel supported on two vertical recessed panels further resting on four short feet, the marblelised top of the table with an irregular residue of built-up layers of black and red lacquer extending down the sides
Condition
As visible in the catalogue photo, the surface with expected wear, chips to the edges, previous consolidation and reinforcement to the joinery and panels, with traces of nails on the top panel, consistent with age and type.

Catalogue Note
The marbled and copious layers of black and red lacquer were accumulated overtime and a by-product of lacquer production in the Showa period in Japan as this low table would have initially functioned as a utilitarian tool for craftsman for straining coloured lacquer.
