16mo, FIRST TRADE EDITION, FIRST, SECOND OR THIRD PRINTING (leaf-pattern endpapers, "wept big tears" present on p. 51), 31 coloured illustrations by Beatrix Potter, RARE DELUXE BINDING IN YELLOW CLOTH, lettered in brown, pictorial label on upper cover, top edge gilt, upper hinge split, adhesive tape repair at gutter (pp.8-9), binding slightly worn and soiled, contemporary gift inscription dated 1902

Leslie Linder records that 2000 copies from the first 8000 were issued in "green cloth, light green cloth or olive-green cloth". A gilt decorated cloth cover was introduced in October 1904. The yellow cloth variant is therefore unrecorded by Linder (and also not present in the V&A Collection). It would appear to be the rarest of the different deluxe issues of Peter Rabbit.
