Eikoh Hosoe is a Japanese photographer and filmmaker, known for his psychologically charged images, which often explore the themes of erotic obsession and death. Baudelaire—a great influence on Hosoe—was preoccupied with just these subjects in his Les Fleurs du Mal, making the verse ideal for such aꦺrtistic reinterpretation.
