4to (8 1/4 x 6 7/8 in.; 210 x 150 mm). Black letter, with some italic, woodcut text illustrations, ornamental wood- and metal-cut initials; lacking 26 of 340 leaves: lacks [maltese cross] 1–8; [fleuron] 1–2, 7–8; A1–2, 8; &4, Qq7–8; Rr1–8 (including title, many preliminaries, 3 leaves in Matthew, 6 leaves in Revelation, and Jugges's device); 11 leaves supplied from a shorter copy ([fleuron] 3–6; A4–5; Qq1, 3–6); some early tears and marginal repairs, mostly without loss, some marginal dampstaining, scattered wormholes at beginning and end, occasional shaving of headlines, shoulder-notes, and catchwords. Contemporary blind-panelled calf over wooden boards, brass catches and cornerpieces; rebacked, rubbed. Sold with all faults, not subject to return.


First edition o💟f Tyndale's version with Jugge's revisi🍌ons and the first of Jugge's three illustrated quarto editions. The Tables of Epistles and Gospels (Rr6) allows for a second Communion on Easter Day, which was dropped from the service book in August 1552. The almanac begins with 1552.
