A CLUSTER OF PYRITE CUBES
NAVAJUN MINA, SPAIN
(41 cm in height). Pꦇresented in a custom vitrine.&nbsꦡp;
Pyrite, commonly known in English as "Fool's Gold", is an iron sulfide with a metallic lustre and pale-gold hue, leading the untrained eye to mistake it for gold🌠. The primary deposits of pyrite are found in Peru, however the Navajun mine in Spain, discovered in 1960, is the only one where cube-shaped pyrite crystals are found. Formed 130,000,000 years ago, dinosaur fossils are ofte🌟n found in rocks in the region.
