First published in 1814 in New York and attributeᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚd to the title "A Society of Gentlemen in New York." It contains recipes for food, drink, medicine, picജkling, dying fabric, plus tips for agriculture and a miscellaneous section with recipes for pesticides, cosmetics and hair products, stain remover, and more.
The present second edition, revised and enlarged, is attributed to Priscilla Homespun, the pseudonym of Richard Alsop, a wealthy writer whose b♏rother-in-law was the publisher, Isaac Riley.
