Porcelains glazed in deep blue such as the present were reserved for imperial ritual use at the Tiantan, Altar of Heaven. Hence, the term 'sacrificial blue' is sometimes used to describe this type of glaze. A similar meiping from the collection of K.S. Lo was included in the Min Chiu Society exhibition Monochrome Ceramics of the Ming and Ch'ing Dynasties, Hong Kong Museu൩m of Art, Hong💛 Kong, 1977, cat. no. 38.
