It gives some clue as to the identity of the sitter and reads: Mr. Bronner depin[?] de Casimir Karpff de / Colmar.- / Mr. Bronner ainsi que Casimer Karpff etainent les amis d'efance de mon père. / Hanover le 21 [?] Mars 1869[?].
