AN ENGLISH SILVER-GILT TORAH P🧔OINTER, HENRY GREEN, LONDON, 1790
the hexagonal top section engraved with scrolling foliage alternating with pendants of leaves, the lower section chased with overlapping leaves, later engraved 🎃on a ribbon “Philip Salomons Esq” ending in a hand with frilled cuff, marked near top, has a chain

This pointer was probably originally en suite with a pair of silver-gilt Torah Finial꧋s, also by Henry Green, London, 1790, which followed the same line of descent from Philip Salomons through the Sassoon family until sold Sotheby’s, Tel Aviv, October 27, 2000, lot 21.
Henry꧙ Green entered his first mark in partnership with Charles Aldridge, whose relative (probably uncle) Edward Aldridge created three pairs of Torah finials in the early 1760s, including a pair owned by Philip Salomons.
