cast as an open-jawed lion originally holding a shield, now lacking, his head now with a scre๊w-on cap, mounted on a cast circular base with band of scallop shells alternating with ✃acanthus foliage, the domed center cast and chased with rocks and grasses, molded outer rim

marked on top of the rimwith maker’s mark of the Jamnitzer family and separate incuse W, and city mark, also stamped with anAustrian control mark for circa 1806, mark not clear, probably originally a support for a tazza or cup
