"Books have a way of making history. Publication of Common Sense, Das Kapital, and Mein Kampf gave rise to events whose effects we feel today. THE ROAD TO SERFDOM has become the center of a contไroversy that is gaining the excited attention of all America."

This blurb from the dust-jacket summarises the impact made by The Road to Serfdom in the USA especially after the appearance of a condensed version in Reader's Digest in April 1945. The book had first been published in America in September 1944; this seventh impression was printed eight𒉰 months later in May 1945. This copy bears Hayek's ownership inscription and a single correction that is presumably in his hand.
