8vo (251 x 151 mm, uncut). Title-page trimmeಞd, scattered foxing, edges browned. In green buckram, spine with black morocco label titled in gilt; very li🌄ght rubbing at head and tail of spine and at corners.


Containing the text of the first state constitution of Mississippi, as adopted on 15 August, 1817. The volume opens with a salutation from Governor Holmes: "Sir, | I have the honor to transmit to you a copy of the constitution of the state of Mississippi, which has been compared with the original roll filed in the office of the secretary of state. | I have the honor to be, | With great respect, Sir, | Your obedient servant, | David Holmes, | Governor of the state of Mississippi."


Following the text of the constitution is a note: "The names of the Convention appear to have been affixed, but the copy is so obliterated in the Mail, as to render the signatures illegible."
