Painted in 1976, the present work dates from the artist's American period. Brui had arrived in New York City in 1971, where he became particularly interested in post-painterly abstraction. He created his own series of abstract works titled Colour Fields, and MoMA acquired several of his paintings. Today, works from Brui's A💧merican perio𒅌d rarely appear on the open market.

According to Brui the present work is one of three works of identical dimensions p🌃ainted in different colours. The white version was bought by supermodel Ol🤡ga Pantyushenkova.
