The present lot appears to belong to a group of relief panels originally forming a retablo. They have been attributed to Felipe Vigarny, a Burgundian sculptor who settled in Burgos, Spain in 1498, where he established a successful workshop specializing in retablos.  Eight reliefs from the group are in the Ezkenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University in Bloomington and represent The Birth of the VirginThe Marriage of the VirginThe AnnunciationThe VisitationThe NativityThe Adoration of the MagiThe Presentation in the Temple and The Flight into Egypt
