This large enamel triptych represents a rare opportunity to acquire a complete set of twelve 16th century enamels. Each panel is painted with a coat-of-arms, which are quartered in the final scene. Two of the armorials have been tentatively identified as those of the Tullier and Baroz families, indicating that the triptych may have been commissioned to cಌommemorate a marriage. The color palette, the application of c꧙olor, and summary drawing of the figures, recalls the work of the celebrated enameller known as the Aeneid Master.
Enamel painting styles in Limoges changed around the 1530s when artists moved away from the more lively, painterly, style to more detailed and refined compositions, many of which were taken from early engravings by artist'♓s such as Pi𓂃erre Reymond and Jean de Court.
