Thence by descent to the present owner

Art dealer and publisher J. B. (Jsrael Ber) Neumann appreciated Dix's early work and exhibited it in his German galleries in the 1920's.  After opening galleries in Berlin, Munich, Dusseldorf, and Bremen, he moved to New York, where he established the New Art Circle Gallery and introduced American audiences to Dix' work.
