the body of faceted citrine, surmounted with a silver-mounted diamond-set collar, the gold matrix engraved with the initials 'CMA' in Gothic script for Clementina Mary Adam (1866-1944), unmarked

Clementina Mary Adam was born in Westminster in 1866 as one of the children of the Rt. Hon. William Patrick. Adam (1823-1881), M.P. for Clackmannan and Kinross between 1859 and 1880 and Governor of Madras in 1880, and his wife, Emily Eliza (née Wyllie). In October 1908 she was appointed by the Duke and Duchess of Connaught to be Lady in Waiting to their daughter, Princess Patricia of Connaught, later Lady Patricia Ramsay (1886-1974). Miss Adam died at the age of 70 at 20 Halsey Street, Chelsea on 8 February 1944.
