A Meissen Kakiemon hexagonal vase♚ and cover, Circa 1729-31


after a Japanese original, painted in a typical palette with three blue and turquoise leaf-edged vignettes, of a woman standing and holding a branch of flowering prunus, birds perched upon bamboo or in flight and cranes in flight or standing beneath a pine, each extending across two sides, the shoulder with three spread-winged birds in iron-red, yellow and gilding on alternating corners against a wide band of leaves and tendrils beneath an iron-red fretwork border around the neck, the cover similarly painted with birds, flowerheads and tendrils, the vase withcrossed swords mark in blue and black Japanese Palace inventory number No: 138./W. in black, the cover with engraved number.
