Bindings

A group of three eighteenth-century red morocco gilt bindingꦉs, two Scottish wheel bindings and one papal binding, comprising🤪:

Two fine examples of Edinburgh thesis bindings; despite the difference♊ in imprint dates, both bindings have a central wheel design, leafy stems in the corners, an outer roll-tooled border and numerous other small stamps including a five-pointed star. A very similar binding is recorded on a copy of Simson's edition of Apollonius 🧸of Perga (Glasgow, 1749), in the British Library (c.48.g.11).
