THE BACK-UP COPY OF THE APOLLO 11 OPERATIONS CHECKLIST—THE FLOWN CONFIGURATION IS NOW HOUSED AT THE SMITHSONIAN N🍰ATIONAL AIR & SPACE MUSEUM
Apollo documents such as this were produced in three versions; one to be used for training, typically printed on cardstock of different colors, and then two identical copies bound at the spine with metal rings, and with cream colored heavy card-stock 🀅covers, one would serve as the back-up, and one would be flown. For both,🎐 the contents and pre-flight notations would be identical, and the titles and part numbers on the front covers were as well, however the serial numbers were added in at the last minute, when it was decided which copy would be flown, with serial number 1001 being used for the flown configurations, and serial number 1002, as is the case with the present copy, being assigned to the back-up copy. Interestingly, the flown copy that is now housed at the Smithsonian bears the serial number 100 on the front cover, someone having forgotten to fill in the final "1".
The document contains abridged versions of several other checklists pertaining to navigation, computer programs, propulsion systems, environmental controls, as well as contingencies and emergencies. It was a reference guide for all major events that could occur during the missᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚion. The checklist is divided into 18 sections with tabs for reference, on subjects such as "Alarm Codes," "Star Maps," "Systems Management," and "LM Interface," and more.
