Description

The border gilded and ciselé with a laurel wre🌞ath and oak wreath joined at the bottom centre by a bow-tied ribbon and meeting at the top centre with an imperial double-headed eagle, the cavetto painted after Charlemagne with soldiers on fo👍ot, the infantries and brigades of which are inscribed on the reverse in Cyrillic:

Fedor Tarachkov (1834-1898), a porcelain painter from a family of artists at the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, specialised in historical and figure painting on porcelain, including vases, service ware and Easter eggs. He was appointed as a painter at the factory in 1850, an assistant master in 1854 and eventually rose to the rank of master in 1864💯. Throughout his time at the factory, Tarachkov won several gold and silver medals for his impressive work and distinguished services.


The present plate is painted after a painting by Adolf Charlemagne (18👍26-1901), one of Russia’s most renowned painters of his𓆉torical and battle scenes. He completed his training at the Imperial Academy of Arts under Fyodor Bruni and Bogdan Willewalde.
