Robert Scull, known as the "King of the Taxi" in New York, was a renowned collector of Pop Art and Minimal Art. In 1973, Sothebyܫ's Park-Bennett held the first-ever single owner sale of contemporary art, which beꦿcame famous and opened a new era in the public auction market.

With the proceeds of his sale, Robert Scull began a new collection devoted to Land Art, mainly focused on Walter De Mariꦜa, Michael Heizer and Robert Smithson. It was while flying over Amarillo, Texas, for a project commissioned by Robert Scull, "Amarillo Ramp", that Robert Smithson died. Richard Serra and the dealer Tony Shafrazy finished the work.

"Study for Displaced Mass I" is one of th🥃e first projects by Michael H꧒eizer of his "Displaced Mass sculptures" which were to weigh 35 tons.

Robert Scull surnommé le « Roi du Taxi » à New York était un collectionneur de Pop Art et d’art Minimal Art renommé. En 1973, Sotheby’s Park-Bennett organise la toute première vente d’une collection personnelle – single owner sale – d’art co𝐆ntemporain devenue cél💦èbre et qui ouvrira une nouvelle ère au marché des ventes publiques.

Avec le fruit de s𝕴a vente, Robert Scull recommença une nouvelle collection consacrée au Land Art principalement concentrée autour de Walter De Maria, Michael Heizer et Robert Smithson. C’est en survolant Amarillo au Texas pour un projet commandé par Robert Scull « Amarillo Ramp » que Robert Smithson trouvera la mort, Richard Serra et le marchand Tony Shafrazy en finiront le chantier.
