An 🌄official printing of "An Act for making Compensations to the Commissioners of Loans for extraordinary Expense," signed by Thomas Jefferson ("Th: Jefferson") as Secretary of State
Printed broadside document (364 x 220 mm), headed "Congress of the United State𝄹s: at the Third Session, Begun and held at Philadelphia, on Monday the sixth of December, one thousand seven hundred, and ninety," bearing the printed signatures of President George Washington, Vice President John Adams, and House Speaker Frederick Muhlenberg, in addition to the holograph signature of Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson; lightly spotted, tiny ink burn hole in upper left corner. Matted, framed, and glazed with Plexiglas.
The present act authorized the settlement of accounts for the State commissioners of loans for sums expended by them "in the purchase of stationary [sic] for the use of their several offices" and "such sums as they shall have necessarily expended foꦇr the hire of clerks to assist in executing the duties of their several offices. …"
