SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Apollo 12 Lunar Module Pilot ALAN BEAN in gold ink: “OKAY, MY, THAT SUN IS / BRIGHT! I’M STEPPING INTO / THE OCEAN OF STORMS FOR / 26 HOURS OF GREAT / LUNAR EXPLORATION / ALAN BEAN / APOLLO 12 LMP / 4TH MAN TO WALK ON / THE MOON / NOVEMBER 19, / 1969”

The present image captures Apollo 12 Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean descending from the lཧadder of the Lunar Module Intrepid for a spacewalk, in which he became the fourth man to walk on the moon. The accompanying inscription in the present image alludes to the first words Shepard said once stepping onto the lunar surface.
