These chenets have much in common with the work of the bronzier Jean-Louis Prieur (awarded the title of Master in 1769). The design of a pair of andirons attributed to him has the same characteristics: the urn with laurel garlands, the elongated putti facing each other (illustrated, H. Ottomeyer, P. Proschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Münich, 1986, Vol.I, 3.14.07).
