This rare dated Dingyao box was greatly admired by Mary Tregear, who included it in her landmark 1982 publication Song Ceramics, where she described it as 'an important document because of the dated inscription on the base'. Another Dingyao box and cover from the Yang De Tang Collection was sold in our New York rooms, 17th March 2015, lot 66.
