Part quartz part automatic, the Grand Seiko Spring Drive movement is a mechanical breakthrough for modern watchmaking as it is known💧 to be one of the most accurate calibres ever designed. Presented in 1998 at the Basel Watch Fair, this invention combines the best of both world♓s for mechanical and electronic watchmaking. Like any automatic powered movement, the watch generates its power from the rotor that stores the energy at the barrel. However, instead of using a conventional escapement to oscillate the power, the spring drive movement uses a quartz oscillator which sends a signal to manage the regulation. 

The present example was made to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Japanese Association of Haute Horlogerie, featuring the signature𓃲 SnowFlake dial with red acce༒nts, matching red sapphire display back in a titanium case, the present watch was made in a limited edition of 390 pieces, a very unusually low number for Grand Seiko. This is an example that is rare to come to the market.
