Red chalk, within dark brown ink framing lines;
bears pencil inscription, verso: Bailly

Though clearly the work of a mid-17th-century Dutch Italianate artist, and similar in some respects to the drawings of Adriaen van de Velde and Karel Dujardin, it has not yet been possible to determine a precise attribution for this engaging study.
