The sitter was the daughter of the lawyer Sir Walden Hanmer, 1st Bt (1717-1783) and his wife, née Anne Graham (d. 1778). She married the Rev. George Turnor, Rector of Wragby, at St George's, Hanover Square, in 1791. She and her father were both portrayed by Sir Joshua Reynolds; her portrait, circa 1778, is now considered lost.1 Her mother was portrayed in a pastel by “Cotes of Bath” [sic], according to John, Lord Hanmer.2
